Open-source WiFi module for Itho devices with an RJ45 COM/Diag port

Control your Itho Daalderop device with one simple add-on module:
  • No hardware modifications needed to the Itho hardware, no warranty voided
  • Control the Itho via a simple web interface, MQTT API or WebAPI
  • Easily integrate this WiFi controller into existing home automation systems
  • Automatic detection in Home Assistant via MQTT
  • Installation can be done in a few minutes
  • Concise installation guide supplied via QR code on the invoice, or download via this link
  • Plug the add-on into the Itho, configure WiFi and any integrations, and the module is ready to use
Why this module?
With this module it is possible to extract sensor, system and status information from your Itho device. It is also possible to view and change the settings of your Itho unit.
The module can also serve as a remote through which the Itho can be controlled via an API.
Warning! The settings of the Itho device can be changed, but this is at your own risk! Make a backup of the current settings before making changes.
Supported devices

- HRU-3 BVL-001
- HRU-3-BVFT-L-004
- HRU ECOfan
- HRU 250, HRU 300 P and HRU 300 R (note! an adapter board and a PCI-e splitter cable are needed to connect the add-on and read it out, a CC1101 module is needed to be able to control the HRU)
- HRU 350
- DamandFlow / QualityFlow
- WPU 4G/5G HeatPump
- AutoTemp

Non-working models

- HRU-3 GBL-000
- HRU-3 GBL-001
- Itho HPS series
- HRU 300 V / HRU 375 V / HRU 400 can only be controlled via RF with an HRU/WPU/DemandFlow/QualityFlow WiFi module including CC1101 RF module. Reading the status will probably be possible in the future; changing settings does not appear to be possible.

HRU 200

For the HRU200 the CVE version of the add-on can be used.

Extra information for HRU 250 and HRU 300

The HRU 250/300 is compatible and can be connected by using an adapter. A PCI-e splitter cable is also needed for the connection with the HRU250/300; this can be ordered along with it or purchased separately in the webshop.
It is available here.
Please note; remote commands can only be sent to the HRU300 via a CC1101 module.
Making a cable yourself is also possible, see GitHub issue #97 for more information

What is included in the delivery?

The WiFi module as shown in the image, fully assembled, loaded with the necessary firmware and tested.

What else do I need?

- An ethernet cable (can be ordered along with it) is needed to connect the module to the Itho; it is strongly recommended to use a short cable (max 25cm) of good quality (cat6a or better). By far the most connection problems are caused by poor cables.
- Optional: enclosure ( link ) around the circuit board
- Optional: RF Module (can be ordered along with it)
- For HRU250 and HRU300: PCI-e splitter cable ( link ) and adapter board ( link ), without these the add-on does not work!

RF module CC1101 (option):

The module can be ordered with an RF module. This makes it possible to receive RF signals from the Itho devices (e.g. remotes). This way you can see, among other things, the status of the remote input on the add-on and in the home automation system, the measured values in the case of a CO2 and/or humidity sensor, and the battery status if present.

With the RF module it is also possible to connect the remote controls directly to the add-on. This makes the status visible in your home automation system and allows you to set the speeds and timer settings for each button press. Control from the home automation system based on exact CO2 and humidity values also becomes possible this way.

Connection:

DemandFlow/QualityFlow, leftmost port (black connector):

HRU (connection labelled COM):

HRU300 (connection with PCI-e splitter on the HMI):

WPU:
